I'm having a problem with the positioning of my desktop background. I have an image that I want to center in the screen (it's smaller than the full screen size), but when I go "Desktop Background" to try and center it, checking any of the other options does nothing, it blows the pic up to the full size of the screen and won't either tile or center the image. Has anyone else had this issue, and how do I fix it?

    Thanks!

Ok, did you even read my initial post? You just told me how to do what I said pretty clearly that I had already done. Nothing happens.

Could you tell me the exact resolution size of the image you are trying to center? Along with your screen size? Also idon't know if this may be a case but i know that some other people have had BG images that are made to be stretched. meaning that they stretch no matter what.

Hmmm...interesting. What did you do if the obvious fix didn't work?

Yeah don't leave us hanging. I'll bet the pic was bigger, higher resolution than the screen. But when you view it in a picture viewer it will drop it down to fit the screen. So when you try to center it as the desktop background, it gets blown up to full size and you can't see the whole pic. Just guessing.

I encountered a similar issue to Mr. Anderson. My attempts to get Vista to center rather than stretch the image I chose for my background were not working. I originally set the image by right clicking and choosing Set as Desktop Background. Going to Control Panel>Personalize and trying to change it from stretch to any option had no effect. I verified the image was 800x600 (far less than my display).

I found the following work around, though. From the Control Panel>Personalize, if you browse to the original image and select it again, the panel will correctly display the image for whatever option you choose. So, don't use the Set as Desktop Background option.

I don't know if that was Mr. Anderson's solution or not, but it worked for me.

I just wanted to mention that I had this same problem with my background not resizing and millsmj1201's solution does indeed work (whee vista...).
