    Hello All,

Can someone please suggest a good desktop dictionary (English) that does what a good dictionary is supposed to do?

Of course, I can always look it up online (using fastest fox or something like that) but I was thinking if there is a desktop dictionary utility / tool / software?

I did look around on Google and found Wikitup. Does anyone know how good this is?

    Thanks and cheers.

I have been trying out WordWeb and it's really great, I must say... very handy, easy to use and does the job well.

Yep, that's what I have been using for this purpose for years. I would have recommended that one if you had given me more time. ;)

Just tried out WordWeb and it seems rather nice. I like that it can be used offline. Thanks.

    Thanks.

Actually, since I'm in a big need of a good dictionary tool like this these days, and since I had some few little $$$ to spend from the piggy bank, I got in WordWeb Pro and I must accept it's actually, Very Very Good... I like it. It's very useful, doesn't eat into the system resources (in fact just saw it takes up less memory than Dell Dock, for example!!) and the option of having it sitting in the sys tray for instant look up (and the additional option of having the Oxford Dictionary) is turning out to be very very useful...

In any case, even the free version was very nice... :)

Yes, it IS. Use it longer and I'm sure you'll find it hard to let go of it :) Have fun.. Cheers.

Glad that you like it and find it good to use...

I was having a look at The Sage as well.. and since I was beginning to like WordWeb, I just stuck with it.. but yes, I agree The Sage is a worthy reco., too.. :) These two (WordWeb and The Sage) are right on top of the popular language software'... Good stuff :)

    Cheers
