    Yesterday when I looked at my device manager, there was a device with a Yellow Exclamation beside it.

    Microsoft 6TO4 Adapter.

    Upon some Google research, I eventually just uninstalled the Entry. All seems well but I can't help thinking about it.

    When I selected "Show Hidden Devices", I noticed I had 3 entries for 6TO4 adapter, none with the Yellow Exclamation.

    So far everything seems ok. I was just wondering if I did something wrong by uninstalling the problematic entry.

    Specs are in sig (E4300). Latest drivers from Dell are installed. I also recently installed Norton IS 2010.

    Any advice?

    If you're not using ipv6 (and you're not), you don't have to worry about it. The 6to4 adapter is a software driver tunneling ipv6 packets through an ipv4 network.

    My advice is that you stop thinking about it.

    there is reg key that is of use when you want to disable everything related to ipv6 on a vista/win7 machine:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TCPIP6\Parameters]
    "DisabledComponents"=dword:00000000

    toggle the dword value between 1 and 0 when you want/need to enable/disable ipv6.

    standard disclaimer: manually messing with your registry can cause unintended things to happen up to and including complete failure/screwing up of your entire machine. proceed with caution.
