I took part in the Windows feedback program and hopefully will get a free copy of Windows Ultimate 32/64 bit versions for free in about 3 months.![]()
Microsoft closed down the offer yesterday as you can imagine it was in demand. The other programs that were offered for free was Office 2007, Encarta 2008 or Streets and Trips 2008. Why anyone would choose the last two baffles me as you can ebay Vista Ultimate or Office 2007 a lot easier if you already have them.

Yeah, I haven't but I guess it is fair enough.
-
Nah, I've got plenty of Vista licenses already, and don't want to use any of them.
-
I was seriously considering doing it for Vista Ultimate so I could use Vista Downgrade and get XP Pro as the end result, but then I read it was too late...oh well. Would've been a nice way to get XP Pro, though.

i signed up and installed the prog the night before
hopefully my next notebook will be a barebone or come without an OS. i laugh when people talk about 'privacy.' what the heck do people do online that makes them so paranoid. to microsoft you're nothing but a little speck in the sand. i guess people enjoy convincing that their life is oh so important somehow

I also agree unless you have utorrent and pirated software on the same computer with the feedback software there's really nothing to worry about. I definitely jumped on the offer.
My thoughts are that they are now focusing on Windows 7 and how to build the UI for the next OS which is no doubt in development. That's where some of the feedback will go to as well as some further tweaking of Vista in the future. -
yeah they asked me for my address and gift selection after i received my email confirmation.
-
I actually am running Vista Ultimate which I got from them so I "could" participate (before you could only install the logging software on VISTA)...hopefully I'll get Office Ultimate as well
-
-
(so that microsoft can make sure they get all the data they want) -
Nope. I already have vista and office and i'd rather not have them knowing my downloading habits.

I went for Vista Ultimate, on the notebook my mother uses to check her email almost everyday. I think I might install, on a friends suggestion a program like SETI or the cancer one on there too, to give them some more information to look at.
Woot, all I need now is a free Vista Home Basic license and I'll have gotten all 4 versions of Vista for free from them (1x Home Premium, 2x Business and now 1x Ultimate). And no I will not trade Business for Home Basic! -

Well, I kind of weaseled my way into getting it ahead of time, so that I COULD be part of the program
... they sent it to me w/in a week of responding to my e-mail. So then I signed up and installed the feedback stuff. I'm hoping they didn't track it and that I'll get Office as well.
Did anyone take advantage of the free Vista Offer from MS?
