    Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I didn't find any category directly appropriate for this, so...

    The power button just stops functioning. I press it again and again but it just gives a hum and turns off again. I had to hold it for like... 1 minute to get it starting again.

    Not sure what's happening. Do I need to buy a new laptop?

    Make sure its plugged into AC Adapter. The battery could have died.

    Your power supply may be shot. Happened to me before. Send it into the manufacturer if under warranty.

    Just curius, what notebook is it?

    Do you mean it powers on regularly and works?

    What laptop is it, how old is it, and how hard do you typically push on the button to start it up normally?
