Can someone tell me the difference between the different windows versions, for example, what is the difference between Home and Pro? I have used both but haven't realised any difference.

Secondly, is it a good time to upgrade to 64 bit operating system. Some time back I heard there were many driver issues.

    Thanks.

As for the second question, yes it is a good time to upgrade to a 6 bit windows because
    1) There exists good support for most programmes today ina 64 bit
2)Some programmes ion the future will exclusively be designed for a 64 bit OS
3)The drivers that come out nowa days have full functionality witha a 64 bit OS even the optimized drivers are made keeping a 64bit OS in mind
4)Finally other advantages such as recognition of more RAM etc is possible on a 64 bit OS

You generally won't notice any of the differences between XP-Home and XP-Pro unless you're operating in a network domain - XP-Home has a very limited subset of the networking capabilities built into XP-Pro (e.g., XP-Home systems cannot join network "domains" but only so-called workgroups, which are essentially just an aggregation of systems in a peer-to-peer group).

The other place you might notice a difference is in terms of the built-in backup capabilities (Home, again, is handicapped as compared to Pro) and in terms of the built-in diagnostic and administrative utilities which, again, you would only notice if you did a lot of rooting around under the hood.

As far as 64-bit OSes go, there doesn't seem to any longer be the problems there used to be with things like drivers; certainly to the extent there still is a problem it is orders of magnitude smaller than it used to be - _Vista 64-bit is not handicapped the way XP-Pro 64-bit was.

Why not go to the source for the comparison?
