Hey Folks. Just did a clean install of win 7 64 bit on my studio 1537. I back up the digital persona database but am unsure as to what version I was running previously on this system. I didn't pay for it, it came pre-installed with the computer so I assume it was freeware though I'm not certain. Is there a link where I can download a freeware 64 bit version?

I've never used the fingerprint stuff on my Studio, but since no one more knowledgeable has thrown anything out there, I'll chime in with my $.01. I have done a clean install, and didn't reinstall any fingerprint software, because I just didn't want it running.
The driver on Dell's website is for an Authentec device. This link gives what looks like a Win 7 Beta: http://www.authentec.com/win7beta64.cfm
I've used Upek in the past (different brand computer tho), and it worked well, although I have no idea if it would work with a Dell device.
Since you prefer digital persona, your best bet might be: http://buy.digitalpersona.com/. It has a free x64 download, after "registering," and getting your email confirmation. That MIGHT be what you're looking for. It's only a guess on my part.
Good luck! Fingerprint readers seem to be a bit squirrely at times. -
Here's the download link for Digital Persona x64 v4.11.3805. However, I have tested this software on a HP laptop and it works ok. Hopefully it'll work on a Dell too

Thanks very much for the most recent version, BondEternal. I though I had updated with the most recent version, but apparently not. Now, thanks to you, I will.
PS tbweems, just to let you know -- and so others won't be confused -- the link you provided was NOT a link to the DigitalPersona application or any updates. It was, instead, a link to their developers' SDK tool kits that differentiate the applications for different markets. -
Thanks guys, downloading now and will post later.

I have an XPS m1530 and it uses UPEK. You have to download from UPEK to get the latest program. The one for Vista x64 on Dell's site doesn't work. The driver I believe does though.

Imperfect1: thanks for the correction. I apologize for my extreme 'imperfection.' BondEternal found the good one.
I usually try to stick to what little I know...which isn't this. -

Voltaire, I too had an odd issue. It was a while ago, and I don't remember exactly what went down. So it's not just you. =)

Managed to get the webcam working. Downloaded the 64 bit driver off of Dell's website and used the 32 Dell Webcam Central from the 32 bit discs that came with the computer. I just have find someway to get Digital Persona installed. I finally was able to get the fingerprint reader to read and TrueSuite 2 installed but unfortunately all my passwords were backed up using Digital Persona and the 64 program on their site doesn't work, it says my platform is not supported. Anyone out there manage to get Digital Persona installed on a 64 bit Win7 platform?

My HP came with a biometric fingerprint reader, Validity I believe.
I bought an external Upek to use but Digitalpersona 4.01 doesn't
detect the USB Upek reader and I tried the download offered on the
first page of this thread but I get the same error Voltaire gets about
platform not supported. I am using Vista 64bit.
Any ideas how to get it working? I bought an Upek with the TouchChip
controller because Digitalpersona states it is a supported reader. -
Here's what I have found, haven't tried it yet though.

That is just the answerbot which is useless.
I went through that and found that I need to go back
to version 4.0 (which is no longer available from HP's support
page for my system) or up to version 4.11, also not available
from HP. -
I had to find a version 4.0 on the web in order to get it working...
