    So i really like how 7 dims the screen after a set time, is a program able to do this under vista?. Thanks.

    Check your notebook manufacturer's power management software. Lenovo has it.

    yes, screen dimming is a standard 'feature' of your power plan, a component of windows since XP came out.......

    No it has not. The only display power saving feature every Windows version up till now has had is turning off your display after x amount of time. If you want to dim your display after a certain amount of time check your manufacturer's power management software or maybe a third-party app.
