Ok so earlier today on my HP DV4T with windows vista home premium 64bit i was playing warcraft 3 frozen throne with no problems. I shut off my computer and about 15 minutes ago i turned on my laptop to play some warcraft 3. For some reason it said it can't find directx and when i tried downloading it from microsoft.com it wouldn't install... does anyone know what the problem is?

It's also randomly asking me to insert the warcraft 3 disc even though you usually don't need the disc to play and then when I put in the disc the game still doesn't run.

Have you crack your warcraft 3?
It seems like your registry got problems here.
    www.ccleaner.com
Download ccleaner and use it. The guide is available in the website i provided.
After scan your laptop with ccleaner, restart your computer.
    Enjoy your game.

Just in case, please screen shoot the error message you get. Maybe, you need to modified the file name of the directx.(wil explain to u if the problem I predicted is true).

No I don't have a crack.... I bought the game a while ago and Blizzard (the makers of warcraft 3) made an update so you don't need to use the disc while playing. I'm reinstalling it right now and if it doesn't work I'll try what you said... thanks.

Darksilver I did what you said and I'm still getting the same thing... here's the screenshot of the error

Also I just got the directX updater thing on microsoft.com to work and it said I already have the latest version of DirectX... so I really don't see what the problem could be. I'm going to try reinstalling my graphics card driver to see if that works.

edit: nope... didn't work... anyone else have any ideas?

U can try re-installing your GPU driver.
    Or,
    Uninstall your GPU driver 1st.
Then, use Driver Sweeper(you nid to download it) and clean all remains of the GPU driver.
After that, restart your computer and install the GPU driver again.
    Restart again.
    Test.

Edit: People on this forum usually play newer or latest games, so solutions provided might be wrong or slow sometime.
