The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

whats the difference between DirectX web update and Redistribute version.

Redistributables provide extra functionality and are not used in most games. If a redist is needed the game will typically install it from the CD. Any kind of OS update from MS, including a DX update, requires a Windows validation because they don't want to help pirates (understandably so!).

You end up with exact same files with either installer, web update only downloads the files you need while the redistributable always contains the full package.
