My fonts in Firefox 4 suck. Turning off hardware acceleration obviously fixes it.
My question is, what do I lose by disabling hardware acceleration?

Besides games in the browser since I don't game anyway.

In fact flash games probably won't lose hardware acceleration since that is built into 10.2 flash.

What you will lose is canvas tags being rendered by the GUP as well as some 2D CSS. That means possible slow rendering.

GPU acceleration is so so so new at this point you likely aren't missing much.

I did a Google search for canvas tags....and now I know what a canvas tag looks like. By canvas tag, I mean a tag that's made out of bloody canvas.

So for all intents and purposes, hardware acceleration is useless....at least for now.

    Thanks.

Does disabling ClearType in Windows also turn off hardware acceleration partially in Firefox 4?
