Has anyone seen this? If so, what do I do about it? If I hit F2 (rename) the name appears, but otherwise it is invisible. Thanks.

    Wow...First time I saw this.

Is this a trick or a problem?

What do you get when you right click on the icon(s)? Does this happen for all icons, or just the ones in the Program Files directory?

Also, have you done any Vista tweaking? Do you remember what you installed/removed/tweaked immediately before the filenames disappeared?

Have you tried opening a command prompt as the administrator and running a SCANNOW?

    SFC /SCANNOW

Have you also tried repairing the system (boot from the Vista DVD, System Repair, etc, etc)?

Forget everything I posted. Do this:

Hold down the shift key, right click on the folder, select open. Make sure to keep holding down the shift key. That will toggle between file names and no files names. It's an old XP trick!

    Dude, thanks SO much!

    That must have been it.

I had just installed Winbubble to try it out, and set it to remove the shortcut arrows from icons, but FxVisor was already installed, so I thought they may have been conflicting, so I uninstalled Winbubble, and then my icon text disappeared (only in Program Files), so I thought something in the registry was messed up, but I must have just hit shift while I opened that folder!

    Thanks again!
