I'm getting a warning that my C:/Program Files has an error and to run Disk Check.

    When I do run: chkdsk.

It starts only to end saying "Cannot continue in Read-only mode".

I also went to my HDD properties and scheduled a disk-check upon my next startup. But when I reset it doesn't run.

Things like my SnippingTool aren't accessible at the moment; but my Laptop seems to be running perfectly fun. If I try to access SnipingTool I get a message saying "SnippingTool cannot be accessed at the moment, try resetting; if it does not work....ask for help..etc"

    ...yelp?

Throw your Vista disc into your computer, set it to boot from CD, and do a "Repair Install." After that, try to run check disk on your machine. For tips on different ways of running chkdsk, visit this thread.

If you keep having problems, I would recommand to backup your files because chkdsc got the tendency to ruin all the files in my case.

You need to run "chkdsk c: /F" and let it re-boot to lock the drive. It will tell you what it finds. It might or might not be able to fix it successfully. Either way drive errors are usually a sign of impending trouble. Time to copy all your important stuff and look at a drive upgrade.

Do exactly what I did on the screen and reboot your computer.

Tried that awhile ago, wouldn't actually perform it after the reboot.

Anyways, as the 1st guy suggested, I ran it under the command window from a Vista CD bootup, and the Chkdsk finally ran through. Seems it got fixed everything, I can access my fiels that were under C:\Program Files once again.
