How often do you guys run these to maintain your HD? Any other suggestions to keep stuff running smoothly? I use CCleaner and I just realized that I never ran disk cleanup or defrag ever since i bought my laptop.

Most of what Disk Cleanup does can be done in CCleaner, and CCleaner can do a bit that Disk Cleanup doesn't do. I have a defragger run every other weekend but that's more for my own peace of mind
You don't need to do much to maintain a Windows 7 install if you don't go installing programs left and right every day for 12 hours a day. -
Never. I haven't used either on my Win 7 Revo HTPC (and have only rebooted twice) since I put it in service ~ 9 months ago.

Defragmentation - ehm... I don't!! What's the point

CCleaner - quite often - I don't like junk. -

Once a week, (usually a Monday night), I do my weekly maintenance which consists of - Avast full system scan, Malwarebytes scan, (occasionally Spybot as well), and Ccleaner followed by defragmenting to finish it off.
Once a week!

Agreed
I've just run the disk cleanup before shutdown everynight or whenever I feel to do it, takes about 30 seconds of my life, but I like it clean. -
I use CCleaner and just got Defraggler from the same guys. Defraggler seems to work pretty good, better than Diskeeper.

NBR doesn't seem too religious about formatting their PCs every month. The best way to keep your system running smoothly is to avoid unnecessary program installations, to minimize the number of programs running at start-up, and to clean the computer every few months to prevent overheating. Tweaks and the like are a plus, but ultimately not essential.

I have to say that I'm a fan of Smart Defrag, because it's able to locate files based upon their usage.

try the free version of Advanced System Care, I have been using it for years and it great.

I pretty much let Windows 7 automatically take care of my HDD as far as Defragging is concerned.
Disk Cleanup + Defrag.
