Is there any reason I should go for Diskkeeper Pro over Home for a single user PC running Vista 32? I'm demo'ing Pro Premier but that's out of my worth it range. Opinions appreciated.
thanks
EDIT: Diskkeeper seems among the best defraggers out there from what I've seen, however Jkdefrag seems to do a pretty good job according to Diskkeeper, and it's free....but diskkeeper is much faster, hence my inquiry ..thanks!

Stick with jkdefrag (or take a look at jkdefragGUI). Defragging is hardly worth doing these days, and it's certainly not worth paying for. Go with the free option and save your money.

Faster is not always better.
Say what? -
So my highly fragged HDD that is causing my laptop to run slow isn't worth defragging :wtf:
I'd agree it's not worth paying for a defragger though. -
I have Diskeeper 10, that I bought a couple years ago for XP. It will not work for Vista, as they have an upgrade (that you have to pay for). I use Auslogics Disk Defrag, which works great. However, I'm a little disappointed that I cannot use the product I paid for.

How do you know that it's fragmentation that's causing your system to run slowly? Do you have some sort of benchmarks that prove this?
The fact is that fragmentation is not a HUGE deal anymore, with disk caches and faster drives. It can be an issue for large media files, typically ones downloaded from p2p apps. Also, Vista has a defragger that runs in the background and when idle, so any major fragmentation is already taken care of by that. -
I have 2007 Home version. Works fine on 32 bit Vista.
I prefer running Diskkeeper because it can run before Windows boots, which allows defragmenting system files that are otherwise locked. -
thanks...that I would go for, but anything more would not be worth it to me.
Diskkeeper version for 32bit Vista?
