    I've got a rather dumb question. In Windows XP you know how there is a "show desktop" button over by the start button. Well someone in my family deleted it by accident...........how do I get that button back?

    Right click anywhere on the blue task bar on the bottom.

    4th choice up is just what you're looking for.

    I know the button you are mentioning, its in the QuickLaunch...I dont know how to get it back but I usually just use the hotkey, Win+D...this minimizes all windows and shows the desktop.

    Easy! open notepad copy and paste what is below.

    [Shell]
    Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3
    [Taskbar]
    Command=ToggleDesktop

    Save as Show Desktop.scf (or anything you want with the .scf extension)
    Not a text file if you need to with drop down "all files"

    I save it to the desktop and then drag to Quick launch but if you want to save to Quick launch go for it.

    That's it!
