I'm about to order a Dell Inspiron 9400, but I'm still not sure whether to choose WinXP Professional or WinXP Home Edition. Would dual-core performance increase with the professional version? What are the disadvantages of owning the home edition? Please note that the professional comes at a premium at a premium price.

    Thanks! :)

The way it was explained to me was Pro has networking things for small businesses. If you don't need those, go with Home. I am awaiting a new Compaq, and I went with Home, even though pro was another $30.
