I have Sleekbook 6 that came with the Windows 8 and Cyberlink Youcam
I dont care for the special effects and all that stuff that Youcam offers.
I just use my webcam for skype.![]()
Do You need a Cyberlink YouCam on your HP Sleekbook for the webcam to work?
Can I remove it safely with out fear of my webcam not working?

Well you could remove it and re-install it if cam doesn't work. But there are lots of other webcam software out there that should also work. I have tried yawcam for my Gateway laptop with good results and it's driver will also work on most laptops.

Yeah, but the thing is... I really don't care about any augmentative and cosmetic software for webcams.... I just need my webcam to work for Skyping (which mean bare-bone driver is needed)
I am just worried that this Cyberlink program does not contain the function driver for my camera, and uninstalling it will make the camera not function.
I know that I can re-install it, but I am trying to avoid that hassle and testing by asking people on this forum for their experience. (the ones that have already removed the software)

Isn't your sleekbook 6 made by HP? Have you tried their website to see if they offer other webcam drivers?

You DO NOT need Cyberlink YouCam on your HP Sleekbook for the webcam to work in Skype. HP drivers for your webcam exist, like my HP 6475b, and are the only thing needed for Skype, Yahoo, oovoo, etc. You can remove it without fear of making the webcam inoperable.
Most of my customers with webcams like Cyberlink YouCam, so i install it alongside their other apps. However i make sure to disable it from services and startup.
