I was going through my closet to clean and throw out old clutter and junk and I found Windows 2000 and even older NT 4.0. Just out of curiosity are companies/people still using 2000 and NT?

Some people MAYBE (probably older people) no offence to anyone-might still. Im sure no biusnesses do, unless maybe VERY small and home operated, or poor.
-
Maybe elementary schools with their stone-age computers? Heck, my school board's head office still uses Windows 95.
-
Yes, businesses and government agencies still use 2000 (perhaps even NT, although I think the numbers will be quite small). Server 2000 is still a rock-solid OS, as well as 2000 Professional.
-
I personally don't, i used to have XP, now i use Vista. I'm not a fan of outdated technology.

My local Best Buy store still runs on 3.1, so I'm guessing there are businesses/schools that are running on NT/2k.

i work at an engineering firm and 2 of the pc's were running windows 2000 with autocad 2002 loaded on them. then rest run xp pro.
-
Windows 2000 is still supported, until 2010, and is very much still a usable and reliable OS.
Yes I still have NT4.0 running, on a VM, along with 95, 98SE, 2000, and XP. Embracing "the next", plus a little nostalgia once in a while, is a wonderful thing.

I know for a fact that the middle school and elementary school in my area still use Windows 2000 running on a junky Dell with Pentium 4. All the teachers get XP, or so I've heard.

I have a laptop with 2000 on it. I like XP better with its Cleartype technology, Software Restriction Policy, and IE7, but it costs a lot of bucks to upgrade the OS.
-
There's a few machines in our environment at work still running 2000 Pro

I run windows 2000 pro on an old desktop machine back home, and its great for basic things. Windows 2000 is still a reliable and solid OS.

My HS was running 2000 on all computers until my senior year (2 years ago) where they bought new computers for the library, and those ran XP. Still, all comps except the library ran 2000 and most likely still do.
My community college runs 2000 on the older computers, and instead of upgrading operating systems, they just buy new computers. So, of course, all the new ones have XP and the old ones have 2000. The newest ones from a few months ago have the Vista sticker on them, but run XP. I couldn't help but chuckle when I saw that. -

I have DOS 5, DOS 6.22, Win 2.1, Win 3.0, WFW 3.11, NT 3.1, NT 3.51, NT 4.0, 98SE, W2K, XP, and Vista around here. I'm only running the Vista. And I'm old, too.

I went to a job interview once, and that company uses windows 2000 + office 97 (one of my question was actually how do they deal with docx files). And it's a pretty large recruiting company in London with 2000+ employees.
-
Sadly, they do. Too bad Vista isn't as big of an improvement over XP as XP was over 2000.

Last time I've seen NT was back in high school, around 5 years ago. Our computer labs then were using it until the new Pentium 4's arrived -- I was already a senior then. The new computers were running XP -
My highschool up until about a year ago used only 2000. They silently upgraded all of the computers to XP since then.
-
I've got 98 on my old desktop that I just use as a backup and at work one of our workstations uses 98 and the computer in the shop has 2000 on it. Our inventory management software (Ideal) is still DOS based
Its a real turd to use...

Still run NT4 on a machine here. But yeah, its getting pretty long in the tooth.
Do people still use NT and 2000?
