Does Vista Ultimate need more RAM than Vista Home Premium?

As I am buying this laptop below so which would be better suited Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate:

    Core 2 Duo T5470 (1.6GHz, 800MHz, 2mb Cache)
    2GB Ram
    14" screen

Also does will Vista Home preium be faster than Vista Ultimate and does Vista Ultimate drain the battery of my laptop faster than Home Premium?

    Thx for the help

NO! If some little geek with a voltage meter can get in there maybe! But that is why they are a geek!

You should be fine with 2gb. You'd be fine with 1gb depending on what you're using it for. Trying to get the most "free" RAM you can is a waste of time, money, and RAM.

Ultimate requires more memory then Home Premium due to the "extra" stuffs. For 2GB, you can run either editions comfortably.

What extra stuffs? Maybe this is correct if you're using the complete backup feature or drive encryption.

I think it's more dependent on what the computer is used for. You could run Ultimate with 512 and HP with 2gb and probably wouldn't notice a difference browsing the web. HP and Ultimate are really close with the majority of the difference in the business features of Ultimate.

Those "extras" won't take too much memory. Anyways, for the most RAM efficient OS, use XP. For most tasks (including photo and video editing), 2GB would be plenty, but to make Vista fly, you'll need 4GB (you'll need Vista64 to use all that RAM).
