Windows XP has built-in fax capablity.

Does Vista? If so, I can't for the life of me find it. Please advise. Thanks.

Kinda sucks how MS is kinda of doing this. I mean sure take out in Home Basic, but Home Premium IMO should at least have it.

I agree. I have Home Premium.

I suppose MS doesn't think we home folks use faxes.

I'll use my husband's windows XP machine to send faxes. Thanks Microsoft.

when considering the difference of cost between home and business, one can use the $ to invest in a better fax software and still come out ahead

yeah, it is kinda suck from m$, but it is their new pricing. and again, whilst it is incovenient not have the functionality packed, it is cheaper just to add this to the basic licence

    cheers ...

What fax software do you recommend? I only need to send a few faxes a year.

Man, Microsoft is really getting to be a pain. I understand you can't use Remote Assistance in Home Premium either. Is that so? It was available in XP.

any vista compatible fax would do, gerryf19 has a good link above

in vista m$ has restructured its product line and pricing. They r right that the majority would not use all the builtin gadgets they offer in xp. So, bring down the licence price :)rolleyes: ) and let the user install what he/she needs from 3rd party developers at a cheaper price and better choices to fit the needs

    cheers ...
