I installed windows 7 on my laptop with 4gb of ram inserted. A day after the installation, the system went into an infinite BSOD loops. Any attempt to reinstall the OS (xp, vista, 7 all tried) result in some kind of BSOD. Then an expert came by and told me to remove 2gb of ram, which I did, and the installation went through. I'm wondering if I should reinsert all 4gb ram. Has anybody else encountered this?

Bad RAM will cause BSODs. Have you tried testing one stick of RAM at a time?

Yep, it's bad ram. Windows 7 x64 runs fine on mine.

You may tried to clean RAM and use memory checking software, if you check RAM by software and have no problem, your motherboard may have problem with memory more than 3 GB (I had heard that problem somewhere) contact your motherboard manufacture to resolve problem or try on bios update.

I did a memtest on my 4gb and darn i've never seen so many erros in my life. 4 min into the test and it was at 50000 errors. I'll be calling Kingston soon. Btw, does overheating kill the memory sticks?

Also, during my memtest, the computer always shut down by itself. Is that supposed to happen?

Are you on a desktop or a laptop? If a desktop, did you insert the memory in the correct order as specified on your motherboard manual?

No, but this tends to happen when there are hardware problems or overheating.
