Does Windows 7 handle DPI settings on a per monitor basis?

From what I can tell, the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask.

I *might* be able to use the insane 1920x1080 on some of those new Asus G51jx systems if I could change the DPI settings on the internal monitor, and leave it at normal on the external. (Without having to change them every time I hook my system up to my monitor.)

Otherwise, for sure I have to wait for the G60j or whatever it's called.

 

I'm not sure. You also end up running into the issue of some programs not respecting DPI settings, so you get very weird effects of text getting cut off and such if you set your DPI too high. I deal with the slightly smaller text and set my DPI to 110% (107 or so, instead of the proper 144). HP by default sets my DPI to 125%, but I found too many issues with some of the oddball utilities.

Yeah, good point. Thanks. Yeah the last time I played with DPI stuff, a lot of programs were iffy. Some of my web work would be iffy for sure too, although I normally do that on my external monitor.

Okay, yeah, I think I'm going to hold out for lower resolution displays. The 1366 whatever display on the upcoming G61j systems is perfect for me

 

Ugh. 1366x768? I couldn't work with that few vertical pixels. I'd rather deal with smaller text. I had a 1280x800 14" laptop for a long time. It's just painful, especially with any kinds of documents and especially with web surfing. If your eyes aren't bad it's not horrible to run a 120DPI display at 96DPI. 144 is a little tight, but still... you need the vertical pixels.
