So I intend on giving my current laptop away and I saw that Windows 8 has a tool that fully resets the OS and cleans the HD. But my laptop has an SSD in the second slot so will it clean both drives?

no. if you want to format the SSD in the second slot, do it within windows before wiping the HDD. i barely scrolled through this article and realize it shows W7/vista/XP, but you should be able to follow along in W8.

NOTE: i'm advising you on how to erase all the data stored on your SSD. be sure to backup or make copies of anything you intend to keep.

Are you sure that will work? Just to add, the OS is installed on the SSD if that changes anything.

If you use the reset option, it will reset whatever drive Windows 8 is installed on, for the other drive, you'll likely have to do it manually. If you have programs installed on it, then it may behave differently, never sued the reset option on a computer with multiple drives, so I can speak from experience.
