Although i LOVE how it lets you move the different pages open on the taskbar to whatever order you like, i do not like how it sticks similar programs together.
1)Is there anyway i can make it so that, for example, if i have itunes open and two different explorer windows, or words documents, it will not treat the two word documents/explorer windows as one and let me move them separate?
2)Is there anyway i can make the system icon area like it used to be? I dont like pressing the up arrow to see hidden icons, and they are just unresponsive sometimes which is annoying.
3)Anyone like using small icons better too?
4)Are there any cool docks you guys like to use?
5)Any other tips or tricks?
Thanks!!

You mean like this?
http://forum.notebookreview.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=38415&d=1252719729
I made it so I have like a quick launch bar on the left, and open programs run in the middle.
Just make a new tool bar, drag it to the far right then drag what is currently there to the middle. Remove names and titles from the new toolbar tada.

Taskbar Buttons: Never Combine
-

Never combine isnt what i mean. For example, open up firefox, then open up two instances of microsoft office. Itll stick the office tabs together.
I also hate how it allows me to control (and close the windows) from aero preview. I liked the old vista aero preview much better...this one keeps getting stuck and annoys me.
And i guess the notifications work almost the same as in vista except for the arrow points up and it doesnt actually show them on the taskbar, instead in a little box. No biggie i guess!
I didnt know about the docking functionality. I guess thats what the pin to start menu that keeps showing up is for! Kind of weird though!
thanks! -

lol, do what i said! It physically sticks the two instances of any program that is the same or similar, and treats them as one movable tab. it is and has been on never combine...

I just did. And I get two Word, two excel, and two Outlook icons.....

I like the new taskbar, I mean the design.
It is huge. LOL.
The function of it is not very practical.
Those functions is not necessary I mean. For example:
Customizable icons and Aero Peek/Show Desktop.
My Vista's machines are all using Windows 7 Theme. LOL. Because I like the taskbar to be huge and everything to be glass(transparent, translucent). -
-
OH!
You are trying to separate the two instances. I misread your post.
Ya, that's a no go. -
I wish it were possible to separate multiple instances of the same program. I prefer to organize my windows by workflow rather than by program group.
Anyways, anyone know if it's possible to eliminate the split-second delay for taskbar thumbnail previews and have it pop up the moment the cursor touches the taskbar? -

Calm down, that I thought that is what he wanted.

but the link did mention that it would do what OP wanted, non?
"...Taskbar previews in Windows 7 have been updated and include new functionality. Users can close windows right from the preview window and even view full size previews with Aero Peek. The changes are very useful but all are depending on the amount of time you hover over the taskbar icon with your mouse. After a set period, 400 milliseconds, the taskbar preview is shown. For some, the required hover time is way too long. .."
Putting the value down to 100ms, as suggested, does not make a bit of a difference. And if you did in a bit more, what this registry entry does, is to shorten or lengthen the delay between the thumbnail and the thumbnail title - not the delay between the thumbnail and its pop up when the mouse is being hovering over.
Maybe there is another registry entry for it.
cheers ...
Does anyone dislike the new taskbar? Some questions...
