Does anyone else that use Windows 7/Vista still use the classic theme and made their desktop look "classic" by making the taskbar function like it used to and not the Windows 7 way?

I am just wondering because I am soooooo hoping that Microsoft doesn't take away this option with Windows 8. I made the taskbar identical to what it used to look like in the classic era OSes because that's what I'm used to and the fat Windows 7 taskbar is, well, fat.

Plus I'm a minimalist, so, ya know! :p

    Anyone else?

Personally I like the Aero look, but I agree that the default taskbar is FAT. I've found the best solution to be setting the taskbar to small and setting labels to only combine when the taskbar's full. That way I get the launching and jumplists functionality of the taskbar, but it's not huge and I can easily see program labels.

    Win Win Win.

I use my computers for computing and don't waste my breath on any Aero-Crap. Classic FTW.

First thing I did to Windows 7 was re-enable the quicklauch feature. I find that useful, but left everything else pretty much as installed.

I have it on the defualt setting. I find it so much nicer and faster once you learn it.
I was on my grandpa's computer yesterday which is xp using classic windows 98. It took so much longer to do things, plus looked horrible.

Different setting set you faster in different way you are used to and your computer capable of. To each his own. Choose what is best for you and your computer.

I'm not really clear why you'd want the quick launch when pinning things to the start bar is basically quick launch TO THE MAX.

Twelve icons on the quicklaunch covers 90% of what I use my computer for. Pinning all of them makes a mess.

Well that's fair, though you get way more if you use the small taskbar. I figure programs that I use a lot will show up on the taskbar anyway, so why not make the taskbar icon the shortcut?

One of the reasons I switched back to the text labeled taskbar was because half the taskbar was basically empty space for me, even with 12 things pinned, and I think it was a generally good idea that the Quicklaunch was fused together with the bar.

I wish I could get used to having the taskbar hide, but I can't do it :(
