Does anyone have a good understanding of monitor calibration?

I'm pretty good with the basics and have used this site for years. I usually never have any issues, but with my laptop screen I am.

The gamma for the red, green and blue channels are off. Red is the highest and blue is the lowest, with green falling in the middle. My process is to do the brightness first, then contrast, then global gamma before starting on individual channels; I'm stuck at that point. After adjusting the individual gamma for each color to 2.2, the screen has a brownish hue that is not correct at all. :(

How do I adjust the channel brightness and contrast to fix this after setting the gamma?
