Was just wondering if any members here still use Windows Vista as their prime OS? or has everyone gone to 7 (or still on XP).
-
I use Windows Vista for pretty much all my homework and for iTunes.
However, 7 is my main OS. I just keep my bloat and crap that slows down the computer on Vista. -
Still on Vista
Came with my laptop and works just fine for me
I'd like to get 7, but till I get a good student deal I won't -
I think 7 already overtook Vista, at least according to web traffic/internet usage worldwide. -
I kept it on my dell because it came with it. I do prefer prefer windows 7 over vista and xp over windows 7.
-
Windows Vista got scraped off my notebook and I threw off the CD the moment 7 came out!
-
vista on clevo laptop and 7 ultimate on crappy fujitsu.
-
At first I was going to triple-boot my laptop with XP, Vista, and 7 but after I installed 7 and my laptop ran great with it, there was no point in keeping vista.
-
I still use Vista on my laptop, which is my main computer. Sure, I like Win 7 better, but Vista is getting the job done fine, and I'm not going to spend the money for the upgrade until I replace the laptop. Vista with all the updates plus a fast browser such as the latest Firefox (or Chrome or Opera) is actually quite snappy for me.
I have 7 on my nettop which I keep attached to my living room TV. -
I think the problem is that some people are comparing preinstalled, bloatwared RTM/SP1 Vista with retail W7, which will make W7 look even better. I've tried Vista SP2 and it's quite good, much better than Vista RTM.
-
running only windows 7 here - on 3 machines (plus xp on another one, but it really doesn't count)
-
I came to Vista (SP2) kicking and screaming, but after learning it thoroughly and doing a lot of customization, I can now say that I really LOVE Vista. Plus, I don't want to have to deal with some of the negative changes made in Windows 7 (e.g. its extremely difficult Search app, the new Task Bar, just to name a couple), so I'm sticking with Vista as long as I can!
-
For some odd reason my m1530 runs better in vista than 7. maybe it was designed for vista.
-
More people use Vista than Win7.
And more people use XP than Vista, Win7 and all other operating systems combined. -
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
My roommate uses it and the computers here at school use Vista Enterprise (as well as OS X and Red Hat Linux).
-
My comment was about people who bought a laptop preinstalled with Vista and who never tried to do a clean install until W7 showed up (maybe as a free upgrade),
ie they thought Vista was the problem when it fact it was because of an old install/bloatware/RTM/SP1/not enough RAM.
I think this is a significant group of people. -
-
I removed a major source of agrivation(Vista) from my life and replaced it with win7 and I am smiling again.
-
You don't have a clue what you're talking about -
-
Yep, still using Vista. Unless i get Windows 7 for like dirt cheap, i see no reason to upgrade.
-
My laptop came with Vista and I don't see a reason to pay for Windows 7, which I personally don't find all that different from Vista anyway. I actually prefer it because there's also one program I use that does not work in Windows 7.
-
I got 7 for free through MSDNAA.
-
It's not the "ZOMG Horrible" OS that people (with great help from Apple....) made it seem to be, and is the foundation for Windows 7 that everyone loves so much. -
Especially after the service packs. It is perfectly stable for me, and the only crashes are usually due to me tinkering with the system. -
windows vista was a nightmare for me.....
just recently format XP and using W7 Ultimate - no problem so far.
to be fair, i believe that now WV now shud have fixed almost all the problem d -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
windows vista was a nightmare for me.
to be fair, so was xp until sp2. of course, vista still gave me a few particular issues even after sp2...
7 works. done. -
windows vista was a nightmare for me...
xp was pretty good back in the day. so i recently formatted to windows 95.
95 works. done.
amidoinrite? -
1 xp, 3 Vistas, 3 W7. Win7 on new laptops. Vista is stable once you tweak it. Sometimes the OS the computer came with works better with it. As it's said, if it ain't broke.. what's to fix?
-
vista business 64bit in my hp compaq 8510p. no complain so far. tried W7 RC and works great but it would be better for me to save the money to buy a new notebook with W7. Uneconomical if I will buy W7 for my old system.
-
I have a new software bound 'time use' of my computers. If I buy a computer with a certain OS, for example windows xp, I will not buy a new system untill the OS that comes after my OS (in this case vista), has already been replaced by a third os (windows 7).
Since I started with vista, and not xp, i'm waiting for the os after windows 7.
No actually I just use vista because all the drivers for my old acer aspire 5920g (from 2007) work better and people who use w7 on the same model have way more problems... -
Since my laptop came with Vista pre-installed, I formatted the hd and did a clean install of XP and Vista x64 (SP1 at the time) in dualboot of course.
Clean install of Vista with SP2 slipstreamed works fine.
It's practically as good as 7, however the latter is more polished and supposedly optimized.
I used 7 since the beta (x64 only) and haven't really looked back.
Works quite lovely. -
7 on all 4 of my machines. Vista was OK, but 7 is much better. XP was great back in the day but sucks after using 7.
-
we escaped vista till win7 came out then i switched all my family pc's to windows 7
-
Why should I bother wasting time and money to switch to Win7?
Zero gain.
Vista runs fine - perfectly fine.
And XP - yuck - there is no OS I hate more I think... the amount of times I reinstalled that on my old computer... horrible. -
The USAF has tens of thousands of computers running Vista, if not hundreds of thousands.
-
I don't use Vista, however, I do use XP. Vista was absolutely fine... I don't know what the fuss was about. I think I will keep XP on my laptop, and upgrade to 7 when I get a new laptop at the end of the year.
-
Vista user here as well. I'm too lazy to format my laptop and the performance gain is minimal. I will only change to 7 if I buy a new laptop or format my current laptop.
-
Still using Vista 64-bit and see no real reason to upgrade given how well it works with my laptop's drivers.
I received a powerful '09 gaming laptop with Vista SP2 and no bloatware. Honestly, Vista became a polished, stable, and aesthetically-pleasing OS by 2008, but its image in the eyes of average consumers had been so tarnished that MS quickly moved onto Win7 instead leaving Vista tragically behind. To me Win 7 feels like Vista SP3 rather than the difference between Win 2000 and XP, or XP and Vista.
Does anyone still use Windows Vista?
