Just wondering, i haven't done extensive testing but sometimes have trouble receiving the mail in the clients. I'm just testing a lot of mail clients (have never really used them, so i'm trying to figure out how to work it out) and sometimes one client picks up my mail, the other doesn't, or one has 1/3, other has 2/3. I have a couple of new mails i haven't opened. On my iPhone earlier, it didn't work, then now, couple hours later, it did get them. Windows Mail doesn't seem to ever get it, it's only got one out of many, and it seemed it was the only one that got that one. Windows Live Mail seems to work fine (both my gmail and hotmail), and Outlook doesn't get to get gmail (i get hotmail on it). Funny, the only one that actually works right with gmail doesn't sync with iTunes/iPhone. >.<

Unable to send or receive messages for the Gmail account. Header download for the '[Gmail]' folder did not complete. Could not select '[Gmail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server.
Server Response: Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (Failure)
Server: 'imap.gmail.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCCD2
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Secure(SSL): Yes

Seems it works but i always get error messages when retrieving from gmail. -

If I remember correctly, to be able to use Gmail with a Mail Client, you need to go to gmail, log into your account, goto settings, goto Forwarding and POP/IMAP, and theres some settings in there you need to set in order for Gmail to forward your mail correctly.

Yeah i already enabled everything.
On Windows Mail, i got this message (pretty much same thing):
Header download for the '[Gmail]' folder did not complete. Could not select '[Gmail]' on the IMAP server. You might try refreshing your folder list to synchronize with the IMAP server. Account: 'Gmail', Server: 'imap.gmail.com', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Unknown Mailbox: [Gmail] (Failure)', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCCD2 -

Try SMTP port 465 SSL or 587 TLS.
Internet Email Settings > More Settings... > Advanced Tab, change the
SMTP port to one or the other and select the relevant protocol from
the dropdown list.

Nah, tried it, and variations of it, still get the same problem. I see it seems like the same problem, but they state a solution, but it didn't work for me. I don't see why either, the problem seems to be with the imap, not the smtp.

I fetch mail using The Bat!. Works great.

My GMail works flawlessly on MS Outlook 2003 (11.8217.8202) SP3 on a PC running Windows XP Pro SP2.
-
Wait is IMAP where it copies all of your mail onto your hard drive as well? Because I'm not using that, but simply forwarding email thru Windows Mail works great for me.

Gmail (as well as AOL) works with Thunderbird
-
I use thunderbird and it works flawlessly.

I use IMAP through Outlook 2007. It works pretty well, although Gmail has this kink that makes deleting emails rather bothersome.
Does gmail work well through mail clients?
