Not really sure where to put this, but it's a software thing so this seems like the right place. Anyway, does anyone know if this actually works? I can't tell if it's making a difference in battery life but it's certainly making my screen look worse.

Turn it off unless you want an extra millisecond of battery life.

You can test it for yourself. Set your laptop to loop a full-screen movie until it dies with it on and off. If you actually notice a difference, PM me.

I believe it's supposed to let your screen be more readable at low brightness setting, not saving power by itself.

I dunno if it works here either but Lenovo released a driver (it's generic, nothing specific to Lenovo machines as far as i can tell) that fixes the issue where the contrast goes to crap after watching a movie on battery.

    Lenovo Support - Intel HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) and Vista (64-bit) - ThinkPad T410, T410i, T410s, T410si, T510, T510i, X201, X201i, X201s, X201 Tablet - 64bit version.

I though it was mostly to reduce power by not working the LCD pixels so hard.

If that is true, then that's quite sad...
