First thing: please move this topic if I posted it in the wrong thread.
I am wondering if I upgrade to a 17.3 laptop with a better resolution from a 15.6 one with identical specs, will gaming performance be impacted? It has an A8-4500m, Radeon HD 7640G, 6GB RAM.
I mostly play games like Minecraft, WOW, Fifa 14, etc.

Higher resolution means more pixels to push which can impact performance.
-
So do you think it will have a serious impact on my FPS, if I am currently getting 60 on Minecraft?
-
Starlight5 Yes, I'm a cat. What else is there to say, really?
It does affect performance. You will notice it, however, only if your fps is below or close to comfort rate of 24 fps.
-
The impact will not be serious.

Physical screen size doesn't matter whatsoever. Number of pixels (resolution) will, though as said you'd only really notice it once you dip down into very low framerates. As for the games you list, I don't see any sort of problem with going for a higher resolution (hopefully you're getting a 17.3" with at least 1080p or higher, otherwise it's not worth it imo).
-
I assumed the "better resolution" meant the 17.3" had a higher resolution.
-
I was thinking that it's 900p 17.3", in which case it won't improve much (especially in pixel density).
-
Or just run at a lower resolution /shrug/
-
Sorry for not being specific, the lower one is 1366x768, the neither one is 1600x900.

Personally, I'd be aiming for 1080p.

I'm on a budget.

Does screen size/resolution affect FPS?
