I've got 3 power management plans in Vista, these are High Performance, Balanced, Power Saver. I have always just kept my laptop on power saver but changed everything in the Advanced Power Settings to maximize performance on AC and go for longest battery life on DC. I also don't use any 3rd party app or manufacturer profile for power management, just Battery Bar pro for remaining time readouts.
I read in the SSD threads plus here and there for Windows 7 optimizing that for the best drive (and system??) performance one should keep their profile on high performance regardless of the advanced settings they choose.
So my question is, what is changed in the power profiles that we're not seeing through the GUI? Am I missing out on anything by not using High Performance when plugged in even though all the settings for each profile would be the same?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT. Just found this thread. Seems like High Performance is more label and less gain over Balanced. I'm still curious as to how & why this affects SSDs though. I think I'll do some Wprime testing on my three profiles.

heh, so there's no reason for this thread. The one I linked to above says everything needed. Mods can delete please....my bad.
Does the Windows power profile setting matter?
