A local reseller told me that we cannot use vista home basic for commercial/office use and therefore sent me a quote for vista business volume licensing?
We would be using those PCs for basic computing (internet, emails, documentation etc.) and really do not require features provided by vista business.
There is no information regarding license use on Microsoft website. So kindly suggest if we can use vista home basic for office use.
Thanks in advance.

You can probably use it, just be aware that Vista Home Basic can't join domains. If you have a small setup with no domain then this isn't a problem.

I think it's fine, but you can read the license terms here: http://www.microsoft.com/about/legal/useterms/

I am not here to ask about legit or legal.
I know that I can enter x86 Windows license key to x64 Windows for activation.
If I have Windows Vista Home Premium License, can I use the license key to activate Business or Ultimate? -

Guys thanks for the clarification.
We are planning to install these machines in our office and would like to setup a network.
Should I go with Vista business instead?
Does windows vista home basic license allow use at office or business use?
