Mine does that 50% of time, it's annoying and I am sure I didn't crash shut down previously. How do I turn it off? It doesn't take long but it's annoying nonetheless.

No, Windows 7 does not do that for me. Windows will run chkdsk whenever it detects that the disk index has problems. If it is a persistent problem, it could be your disk is starting to fail and may need to be replaced.

Well, maybe. But every time it checks it doesn't detect any problem. I have to think an option was turn on so it checks disk on bootup, now is there a way to turn it off?

Hmm...i tried the link, my lappy still does it.
Could it be the Avira? Or some other programs? Where can I find the saved log of the scan? Thanks. -
Hmmm...it looks like it has something to do with indexing. If win7 finds files that are yet indexed, it will index those files during the boot up. Does that even make sense?
Does your Win 7 Check disk on the boot up?
