Anyone got this working with analog headphones plugged-in ? I noticed that it works if I uninstall the Realtek HD Audio drivers. However, I found it impossible to completely remove the Realtek audio drivers. Even after force deleting the driver files, Windows still installs the Realtek drivers upon reboot.
P.S.: I use my high-res analog headphones only for music with my own EQ settings so I don't care about this new feature. For movies, I anyways use my wireless HDMI headset. I'm just curious, that's all![]()

Maybe you can delete the driver completely with this tool Manage Windows Drivers with Driver Store Explorer[RAPR]. I haven't used the tool but read the posts-links regarding how you use it and where you can get it.

Saw that, but havent tried it yet. I have a feeling that needs compatible headphones/hardware.

Afaik, any headset should work as it is just a software solution. As I said above, I got it to work without the Realtek audio drivers, but as soon as Windows installs the Realtek drivers it does not work anymore. I will try what Papusan suggested to see if I can completely remove the drivers.

Hmm, i can enable it without issues on my Desktop using Micca Origen+ / Dragonfly Red / Centrance DacPort HD. Dont think it is doing anything though :SRynaus likes this.

Lol I was gonna say, a true audiophile would hate virtual surround in my experience.
Sorry though, haven't messed around with it, haven't seen the need. -

@Rynaus roll back instead of uninstalling Realtek drivers. I use default Windows audio drivers on all machines because only them allow different sound levels for 3.5mm out and laptop speakers, unlike Realtek/Conexant/etc. useless junk.

Here you go Realtek_HDA_v6.0.1.8105, incl. DDL, DTS & DHT

So anyone tried the Atmos ?
I'm liking it so far and I've tried
Creative X-FI CMSS3D virtual surround
Asus Xonar Phoebus Dolby Surround , Xear Surround
Creative ZXR SBX virtual surround
Currently Asus Strix DLX Raid virtual Surround was pretty much the best , but now when we have Atmos I need it's better, the issue is it's only 16bit 48 Khz while the Asus is 24bit 48-96 Khz , and many movies can have 24 bit support . so it does effect the quality.
But still testing it, I might buy it after the trial of 30 days.
Using Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium 600 Ohms Studio headphones .
Still need more games to test the Atmos -
I'm having the same problem as the OP on my Dell 7559 (sig) and I PREFER the sound of Atmos using a Pair of Polk headphones.
On my desktop (sig) using a Xonar U7 I prefer Dolby Atmos to Home Theater that shipped with it for music and movies. Games are whole level beyond. I've played hours of BF4 Campaign and on my desktop and found it far superior . As to the bitrate I prefer Atmos, not saying it's more accurate to what bit for bit, just that I prefer it's EQ.
I've bought Atmos and use it on my laptop (with some tweaks) and my desktop for music, gaming and movies, now I just have to buy a Dolby Atmos Receiver/amp for when I'm not on headphones. -

To prevent the installation of drivers from Windows update for a specific device, see my instructions here for disabling it via Group Policy Editor. -
At least in my machine, I figured out why it's not enabled. If I uninstall the Creative SBX software, then the Spatial sound is enabled. But i like the SBX more since I don't watch movies anyway on my computer.

Dolby atmos is paid app, right? I have Dolby AA v2 on my Lenovo, so I use default Windows Sonic spatial audio effect. It currently works at 16 bit with 44-96kHz and not 192kHz. I'm yet to install Creators on my AW 15, so I'll install it in a few weeks until my college work is complete.

If realtek audio driver is rolled back to the default Microsoft driver, Windows wouldn't reinstall the realtek driver back.

Dolby Atmos is a paid app, it's a encoding app for HDMI or a spatial EQ for Headphones which tricks your brain into thinking it's hearing things around you like a real life. I've found in battlefield on headphones I can tell where I'm getting shot at based off sound. I haven't noticed any difference when it comes to bitrates and HZ even when listening HD Audio DVD's.
Could provide a mini-guide on how to that? I thought I had only to restart and find I was back to the updated driver with no Atmos. I'm using windows 10 Home CE on a Dell 7559 -
Wrong !

Kill it with RAPR, then. wushowhide won't hurt either. It might silently install again when the new version is out, but that doesn't happen often.Vasudev likes this. -
Why are we still discussing this ? I think I already posted the solution above.
Again, for anyone having this problem. It is NOT the Realtek drivers. In my case, the SoundBlaster X-Fi MB5 software was the culprit. Please check if you have any sound enhancement software/drivers loaded. Also ensure that in Speaker Properties -> Enhancements tab, "Disable all sound effects" is not checked. With the official Realtek drivers (not Clevo or other modded drivers), the Spatial Sound option works fine. -
I'm still discussing this because I don't have any creative hardware or software in my laptop. I don't see a solution for those of not with creative software installed.
