Alright, so I already know there is a 4 page thread about this, but I went through post by post and read it before comming here, thought it'd be better I post my own then continue on that one ..

So, my wife has the Toshiba Satellite A205 S5804 .. and it has Vista on it. I want to throw XP Pro onto it, but I cannot figure it out. Ive searched the bios up and down to change the HDD boot out of AHCI, and everytime I try to slipstream using nLite all the drivers I need all the links are dead, and I cannot find anything on google searches I've ran.

And at this time, I found a thread on another page to reformat the HDD and try to install Windows XP .. So it doesnt have Windows Vista installed anymore.

Is there ANYONE out there who has a guide that isn't dead that can share??

Normally I can find what I need, but I ran into a brick wall on this one. And this is a laptop she needs for school .. so the sooner anyone can help, the better.

    Thanks in advance. :D :D

Alright, so I got Windows XP installed onto the system .. thank you for the help.

However, I cannot find the driver for the WIFI to work. I installed the correct software, but it says that the driver RTL8187B_WLAN_Adapter is missing .. and the one from the Realtek site did not work, any ideas?

I think that particular Wlan driver needs to be modified in order to work properly in XP.
I had a similar issue when installing XP on my friends laptop with the same Wifi card.
Essentially, and inf file has to be modified.
A line or 2 must be added in order for XP to properly recognize and use the driver.
Why Realtek overlooked this is questionable.
Type into google that card's name/number and something along the line 'driver not working in XP'.
Dig through the net a bit.
    It has to be there.
I found it myself months ago, but never used it since then.

Yeah, I dug for about 2 or 3 hours, then passed out. But not before I e-mailed realtek, woke up this morning, and the driver I needed was sent to me, the wifi is up and running.

    thanks for the help.

ok guys, new to this site and like most everyone else, having vista nightmares. I have an HP dv9727cl notebook and have gotten most of the drivers to work. All accept the audio. In xp, in device manager, it shows the conexant HD audio driver set is installed. But no sound, the error message says that hardware device is not found or not installed. Sound works fine in vista, but cannot get any audio in xp. I have been fighting with this for weeks and of course, HP csr will not help because it is not an XP notebook. The version on hp site is conexant HD audio 4.36.7.60 B I have gone the microsoft forceware wayalready and still nothing

    Please help.....

Thank you, I'll try it as soon as I can get xp installed again, bout an hour.... I have to check my external to see if i already tried this one. I was reading about some guys re-writing their inf files, but their systems were similar to mine but haven't ran into anyone with my system..... I'm willing to try anything.... Thank you....

Ok, more news....according to my device manager, the conexant hd audio smart audio is working properly. Unfortunately, when I try any audio program I get an error message stating "No audio hardware available or is not responding" I'm not sure what more info you could use from me accept that the system is an HP dv9727cl AMD Turion 2.0 dual core Nvidia chipset and video (which all work beautifully, BTW). All I'm missing is the audio somehow.

Have you tried uninstalling the driver and then re-installing it just to make sure that it got properly installed?

well, it looks like you have not installed the microsoft uua driver. xp does not know hd audio devices by default. to teach xp to use hd audiochips you will need to install the UUA Driver first.

    use this driver :
