    I recently have downgraded by HP notebook from Vista to XP. Everything has gone smoothly and all drivers have been installed except for the graphics ones. This is because it cant find the graphics card. I opened up dxdiag and in the display section, under device there is nothing only n/a, n/a. My notebook is a HP Pavilion dv6000. I have the drivers to update but how do i get them to detect the graphics card?

    Thanks =]

    1. The OS is from 2001
    2. Why would it "detect" it?
    3. It's up to your to know what you are doing before you install the OS
    4. XP doesnt detect the hardware without having a driver. The only thing it can give you is hardware id and so on

    Most likely not, i've only tried where it was OK to use, with some intelgrated card from before the war. He doesnt even inform us which model he has, only the series... He couldnt possibly provide worse help for us to help him. He should go with Vista.

    I did think i knew what i was doing i had all the drivers ready to go, but for some reason its not detecting it. Could it be that i have the wrong drivers? It should work if i have the right ones right?

    Jeez, okay right click my computer in start menu, properties, hardware, device manager, find your gfx card, if you dont have driver its most likely displayed as VGA Device or something, right click it, properties, details, from drop down select hardware id and tell us what it says

    I have tried that and it gave me the same error. Could it be the fact the chipset drivers aren't installing properly?

    Surely it has to be. In a description for the chipset driver it also mentions
    'Note: This package provides the driver for the NVIDIA nForce Chipset and Network Controller '

    Which would explain why the other ones i mentioned above are missing?
