I'm thinking of buying a Dell m1330 which only comes with Vista Home Premium or Ultimate. Since I pretty much think Vista blows (also isn't yet friendly with pro tools), I'll want to downgrade immediately or buy a copy of XP and install it myself. That shouldn't be a problem. What I'm wondering about is the finger print scanner and webcam, specifically if they will still work fine with a clean install of XP. Can't email Dell tech support without actually owning the product, and I've been totally unable to get sense out of anyone I've managed to get on the phone. Any joy?

Before you take the plunge, visit the Dell support website and see if there are XP drivers for the m1330. If there aren't any drivers, you won't have much luck getting XP working.

Damn, that's what I was afraid of.

No drivers at all available for it right now according to the US support page. Since it's just out I guess that could change, but probably time to start getting used to vista. Thanks.
