I am almost completely computer illiterate, so I was wondering if I could get some help here. I am soon going to be buying an Acer laptop, and since I don't really want Vista on my notebook, I was wondering HOW I would downgrade to XP from Vista. If someone could explain it, since I don't know what I'm doing, it would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

If you check the acer site they have xp drivers you will need to download. The rest of the information can probably be found if you do a quick search of these forums.
And should't this be called an upgrade to XP? ;)

Haha yeah, but I couldn't find the XP drivers, and if I did find them, I'd barely know what they looked like. And also, from the quick search and what I saw, they made it sound like it was hard to do.

I found the drivers, but if I got the XP CD, would I have to download every single file that's on the list?

Seriously, thanks for helping in advance.

Actually, could I just reformat, and then install XP?

Yes, I do believe you should be able to reformat, install xp, and then load those drivers. I haven't heard of any particular problems doing this. If you do run into anything, you should be able to look up online what the solution is.

So should I back up the drivers onto an external HD, and then just load them onto XP?
