I am looking for a download manager. Whenever I try downloading America's Army the download will stop once my laptop loses the wireless signal. :p What do people use?

    I personally use Flashget. http://www.amazesoft.com/
If you use Firefox, you can download the extremely popular Flashget extension for it.

I'm not a big fan of download managers, but I once had Free Download Manager (FDM) and it seemed to work well as far as free software goes.

I'd think that would be much easier...

Yeah I searched for America's Army on mininova.com but I didn't find anything there. :( Are there any other sites that I can check?

Free Download Manager. The best. And I am very picky when it comes to download managers. :)

I like it too. But I have a bug in it. Sometimes when I click a download, it captures the last previous download link instead of the current one and then I cancel it and click again to get the current link. I have seen it repeatedly and don,t know what to do?

    Hi aigle,

You mean in FDM? I haven't seen that issue. Do you have the newest version?

BTW - I experienced one strange thing - I used to download all my things directly to my external USB disk. Many of those downloads were corrupted. They were exact size and everything, but corrupted. Then I changed my USB settings from - optimized for removal - to optimized for performance, and I get no errors anymore. I write this because, FDM would also report everything fine and nice downloaded, but the file was useless.

    Cheers,

    Ivan

timu my list of torrent search engines:

    isohunt.com
    torrentspy.com
    torrentz.com

if its out there, one of those would most likely find it. torrentz searches multiple trackers, which usually is the best way to find stuff

    What about Internet Download manager?
I use it and works better than Flashget or DAP.

    Ya I have latest version
I have encountered this problem repeatedly and really hate this as I find some downloads repeated and some missing due to this. I use flashgot extension on firefox to divet downloads to FDM. The downloads which are diverted by flashgot extension to FDM are ok but the downloads directly diverted to FDM by the site many times suffer this problem.

I do get some damaged files but it,s not often and I have no way to know that the error was due to download manager or somewhere else.

    It's on mininova...
    http://www.mininova.org/tor/229888
but only 16 seeds and 38 leechers at the moment..

Isohunt has a couple of tracker links with 19 and 16 seeds respectively, might be a better link.
    http://isohunt.com/torrents.php?ihq=americas+army&ext=&op=and&ihs1=13&iho1=d&iht=4
And if you use azureus or utorrent, it will search for other trackers and pull the seeds from all of them...

    Hi aigle,

You use Firefox. I use IE 7.0. No problems with links. If you can pinpoint one particular link that makes problems, I could recreate the situation and try it from IE 7. Just send me the links. (make sure they are small for download). :)

    Cheers,

    Ivan

    Thansk for reply.
Actually this is not link specific at all. It happens by chance and at random with any link. So I just retry the same link and then it will be ok.

I got my America's Army torrent from 3DGamers.com and it was incredibly fast. My internet is garbage, so it takes several days to download stuff from torrents. I was able to complete that download overnight. I was quite pleased.

I use FlashGet, as well. I like the FlashGot extension for Firefox. It also does, occasionally, make the download go a bit faster.
