Ok, here is a question for all to ponder on. Is there anyway to download movies that have been posted to a central video center on a network? We have several movies that people have donated and they have been posted for everyone to select and view. However, if you try to download them, it states "Download not completed". They are wmv files and open in media player automatically. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I would really like to download and add to my laptop files for traveling. Take care

The files might be locked to prevent downloading - perhaps as a part of the license under which they were acquired.

I was told by a friend that when it loads, there should be a temp file created and you then download it from there. Any thoughts on that idea?

Try looking in Internet Explorer's temp files.

Or else figure out where your copy of Media Player stashes its temporary files, and see if you can see the shadow/working copy of a file when you're playing it; however, before you go making copies of it, make sure you're not violating the terms under which the movies were licensed.

OK everyone, here is a good laugh for all. Can anyone tell me where to find my Windows Media Player temp files? I really must be having a bad day or a really good blonde moment, because I can't find them anywhere. So go ahead yuck it up, but at least give me a hint.
Thanks,

Windows Media Player does not use "temp" files, as I understand.

WMP caches the files it downloads. You'll need to find out what location your version uses to store its cached files. It might also store things in the internet temporary files section, as mentioned on this webpage. This webpage has some tips on saving cached files in WMP. There's a bit of a handy little guide to WMP on this pdf. If you need further info, try googling on the terms " windows-media-player cached-files" or similar search terms.
