I think the Windows 7 USB DVD Tool should work with the Windows 8 ISO. Apart from Windows 7 I also used it for my Windows Server 2008 ISO as well and that worked fine.

The windows 7 usb dvd download tool worked for me. 30gb partition leaves 10gb x64 with dev tools. Not very buggy, works well enough so far.

That's what happened to XP SP2. It was out for so long that MS had serious competition (itself) when Vista and later W7 was released. Only now is XP's market share falling below W7's.

If the OS stays around for more than 3 years without major (and worthwhile) updates, W7 will have an entrenched position and MS will have to deal with it all over again.

Yup, prior to XP MS would release a new OS every 2-3 years, lesson learned. While Vista was a PR disaster Windows 7 has been well received and Windows 8 looks to be even better by all the previews and impressions so far.

This is going to be big! It runs smooth, quick and very responsive on my slate. Once it is ready for retail, it will get great market share. They (MS) are on to something here.

I would buy this OS if they put it out for sale as it is, it's going to be an amazing OS. It works like a final product.
