So, I'm going to go to bed but leave IE running because I'm downloading some big files (2-4 GB each).

I have the first file downloading now, and the second/third set to open with Task Scheduler. So, I made shortcuts to the direct file download, and set those shortcuts to open in Task Scheduler a couple hours from now.

My question is, how do I get the option to turn on "ask me before opening this type of file" for the IE download window again? I had to uncheck it so that the Task Scheduler would work and download the files, otherwise it would just open a prompt TO download the files, but not actually proceed to download. Just want to know how to get this prompt/option back later on, so that when I want to download something and I'm at my computer, I can manually verify it to download.

Beautiful guys, beautiful. Thank you very much, am downloading the download manager right now. Hope it's free of bloatware at 6 mbs and won't stick some malware or toolbar in my browser.

And the registry setting fixed it. That's almost ridiculous a registry fix is needed to fix such an option. Despite being W7, on IE8, the fix still applied. Thanks again.

It's a legacy location from IE 1.0 or something I bet.

Have another question, conveniently enough for this thread. I downloaded a TVU player plugin for IE8 a few hours ago. I want to remove it and any trace of it now. Any idea where to search/what directory the pieces would be in?

It should uninstall from the control panel.

It doesn't appear under the installed programs list.
