My old hard drive crashed so I had to buy another. Got Vista installed, downloaded the updates and now it wont start

It starts to load up, and right after the splash screen it flashes some blue screen and restarts. Anyone know what's going on here?

Can you get into safemode and try to get the bsod message and code? If not, probably another re-installation, and try updating the device drivers first before installing the vista updates.

    cheers ...

You could also roll back to your last restore point (you do have System Restore on, right?). Every time you update Vista it makes a new point so you could roll back to the very second before you installed the problematic update.

or, maybe he downloaded the vista updates that disables pirated copies of vista and creates a blank blue/black screen.

We need full system specs. This way, I might be able to get that blue screen to stop and display so we can see an error code.

I assume you are using a legit version of Vista. If you are using an illegal copy, no help will be provided from the people of this forum. Please buy a legal copy if so. :)

It could be anything. Maybe a graphic driver? Try reinstalling Vista and install only the required updates. No need to install the optional ones.
