Are you sure? Maybe you're just downloading them somewhere and cannot find them.

START > PROFILE NAME (upper right of start menu) > DOWNLOADS folder

If you do not know the location where they are being saved, you certainly will not be able to eaily find them.

Also, what broswer and version are you using?

First I would check your "Downloads" folder, that is the default folder Firefox saves files to...not sure about IE. Install Flashget first then install the add-on Flashgot for intercepting downloads from Firefox then you can chose where to save your files. Hope this helps. :)

You can choose the download location without any extras in any browser, but it does help to know what that location is!

I always felt used by IE rather than a user of IE, myself.

Well my downloads save fine on my XP machine but.. i've tried saving it to different locations.. searched for it after it's done and it's just not there. Doesn't save at all. I also noticed that the window doesn't pop up when it's done.. asking if you want to open it and etc.

    Nevermind, run doesn't work.

I had the same issue. I restored back to a point where I didn't have the problem. Then I didn't update vista for a while. I believe that it was one of the vista updates that caused the problem initially. Since then I have updated firefox and vista without problems.

OK, let's be a little more methodical about this.

    Go to fillehippo.com

Under most popular downloads, click AVG FREE EDITION (large file)

On the description page, click on DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION (upper right)

You should be redirected to a download page, if so, what happens next?

    a) nothing
    b) the yellow information bar appears at the top of the window

Go to Start/Control Panel/Internet Options. Click on the Security Tab. With the Internet zone icon highlighted, click the Custom level... button. A list of security settings for the Internet zone will appear. Find the "Launching applications and unsafe files" setting (under Miscellaneous) and select "Prompt (recommended)". If "Launching applications and unsafe files" is already set to "Prompt (recommended)", try toggling the setting by selecting "Enable (not secure)", clicking "OK" and then resetting it to "Prompt (recommended)".

Also, make sure File Download under the Downloads section is enabled.

You could also just set the defaults, but that may change something you have specifically set otherwise.

Doesn't work =(. This is irritating the hell out of me.

IE7 - When saving to desktop/documents.. etc., after file finishes it doesn't appear in any of those locations.

When selecting run, it just finishes downloading and then the box dissapears and nothing happens.

FIREFOX - Same problem.. doesn't show up anywhere. Also when I right click on the file in the Firefox Downloads box after the file is completed, Open/Open Containing Folder options are greyed out.

Ok.. when I select the Open with (WINRAR) option on Firefox after it finishes downloading, I get an error message. Cannot open C:\USERS\X\AppData\Local\Temp\IDM.rar

I did search for it.. and it does show up. But when I click on the file it gives me the Missing Shortcut box.. Windows is searching for IDM.rar. To locate the file yourself, click Browse.

Also when I right click on the searched file (IDM.rar), and choose Open File Location, it shows up in the microsoft > windows > RECENT folder..

I have no idea what to do.. i'm fairly new to VISTA.

    Any ideas? =(

    Thanks.

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp Under Value for TEMP and TMP.

    Thanks.

    Correct gerry.

I've tried reinstalling IDM, same thing. IDM works.

    IE/FIREFOX downloads don't.

I have the same IDM on a desktop and another laptop and other downloads seem to work fine.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

    Thanks.
