DreamScene Problems..

Hey guys. I downloaded the DreamScene update from Windows update with the "favorite" scenes update as well for extras, but when i open the wallpaper window and select any of the DreamScene scenes nothing happens.. The window closes as if it updated to my new background, but my old background is still set as my background. Also cant right click and click on "Play DreamScape.." as it is greyed out.

 

have you updates your video card drivers? my computer wouldn't let me change to Aero until I updated drivers.

 

I can run Aero completely fine. I am using Dell's drivers for my 8600 GT

 

did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am having the same issue right now.

 

1- Right click your desktop then choose PERSONALIZE
2- Click DESKTOP BACKGROUND
3- In the location window, click BROWSE
4- Choose any video you want.
5- DreamScene should now be working.


The reason you had PLAY DreamScene greyed out is because you never chose a DreamScene to start with! so it doesn't know what to play

 

I tried that already nothing changes when I browse to the Windows>Web>Dreamscene folder where I select the file I want. I am using the Nvidia video card driver off of Dells website under my service tag. I have been reading that that isnt the right driver though. Do you use the same driver?

HOLY CRAP you are a genius. It was the codec pack I installed, I had to change the MPEG-1 and 2 and voila DS works like a champ. I think that set needs to be a sticky or something. How did you find it?

 

I had the Same Problem Bro so i know and thats why i don't use any other Codec Packs other than FFDShow

 

I know a lot of people on the board read my plea for help and probably knew this issue and ignored it, thanks for your time. I know DS isnt life or death but damn I paid alot of money for this laptop and should be able to enjoy it.

I was having the same problem and searched all over the web forums with no solution.....changing the MPEG's worked like a charm!!

I have a month old Sony Vaio VGN-AR730E/B that's a very powerful laptop/desktop. I had BestBuy upgrade it to Ultimate and it (DS) was working fine, all of the sudden DS was out!!

I was to the point of taking it back to BB or sitting on hold with Sony...cause for the $$ DS ought to work.

Now if I could only get the Blu-Ray player on the unit to play all the BR discs when connected to my HD TV's.....it's always something.
