Hi,
I am new to this forum, i just buy a new X200 with Windows Vista and i want to downgrade it to WinXP. I could not find the driver for sound card. I don't see the driver for winxp on lenovo. I found a program named Driver Identifier DriverIdentifier.com Free Driver Update , they show a driver update for my sound card. I haven't tested it yet, is there any one using this one before? Are they scammers like other driver download websites?
I would appreciate your feedback on this program.
Thanks,
John

I am not familiar with this site. However I did go on it to try to help, and there are very few forum questions, but one of them is... I can't get onto the internet, how do I... whatever... If they could not get on the internet, how did they ask the question??? I would use control panel, device manager, and click on your device and then update driver. If that doesn't work, google your device, and check out dep into the results. Or try to find a forum for your particular computer/device. I am not saying it is not a good site, but there is little feedback or response to the forum on it's site. Be wary.

I would be wary of many 3rd party driver downloading programs. These places try to profit off of the computer illiterate, gullible, or just people who're frightened that anything they do that changes how their computer was they they bought will cause it to fizz and pop.
Furthermore, you are better off searching for drivers on your own. For example, HP is doing a very poor job of maintaining up-to-date drivers for their Envy series of laptops. The Envy 17 has different driver's listed than the Envy 15 and Envy 14. However, the audio chipset is the same for all three. The Envy 14 has a newer IDT audio driver listed, but the Envy 17 does not. Even among all the different variations of the Envy 17, there is a discrepancy between driver versions. I had to hunt down the right drivers. Furthermore, updating to the latest IDT Audio driver broke the Beats Audio tone control. Thus, I had to hunt around for the right Tone control program/driver version that was compatible with the IDT Audio driver. Unfortunately, the latest Tone control version was hidden in HP's slop and wasn't even listed for the Envy series.
Now why did I type all of the above out?
I wanted to give you an idea of a worst case scenario. Imagine trying to do that for almost every hardware component out there. Does it seem feasible that the DriverIdentifier program can properly and safely provide you with the right driver without borking your system?
Judge it for yourself.
Furthermore, you're trying to downgrade to an OS that has reached it's end of life. If you're unable to find the drivers you need manually, then I doubt that DriverIdentifier can do a better job. -
Well considering that we just banned a spammer promoting the site, I'd say they are spammers
.
Driver Download website (DriverIdentifier) are they spammers?
