How is this program Drivermax? It sounds good, a program that does all driver updates.

Please explain why it is good or bad.

If you know the device's model no./name, etc, you can download straight from the device manufacturer's site - much better. Or from the notebook manufacturer's site, since those drivers are tried and tested for a specific notebook.
Personally, I didn't like this tool....mainly because I don't really update my drivers. -
I've had more problems than solutions with system level utilities like this. I haven't tried Drivermax specifically, but I still don't trust it. Besides, you should really only update your drivers if something isn't working, or if you need new features from it. Basically, I suggest that you use laptopvideo2go.com if you have NVidia graphics, and otherwise, let Windows Update do any other driver updates.

Yes, I use it and have no problems. Works great on my EEE and Inspiron 9100. updated my EEE 901 wireless drivers yesterday with it, wireless works fine.

I have tried drivermax (both on my desktop and laptop - XP and Vista Ultimate) and it worked well. (I have posted in a bit more detail around here on NBR about Drivermax - let me see if I can find those posts of mine).
I can tell you it worked like a charm, and I did not have any issues with the driver updates or after the driver updates, though for some devices I prefer sticking with OEM drivers, though they might be a bit old.
As for DriverMax, I can assure you personally its a great program, provided you download the right drivers (there is a huge list of latest available drivers usually for a given device - I chose the one' with from the original driver provider and max download or rating).
Its been working fine. I found it very handy and convenient. Very easy to use. Driver Export feature was great as well. Driver update' listed on the page for a given device are true, real and the files that download are digitally signed as well. Also, the driver update / search / download / install process is pretty fast and trouble free.
*though* few weeks back I had trouble connecting to the server for update', but then I read around that DriverMax were upgrading / performing some maintenance their servers. I haven't checked back on it since then. -
I looked at their site and I noticed that there's a free version and a premium version. Does anyone know what's the difference? I hate downloading "free" stuff and then finding out that you have to pay to actually get it to do anything useful.

Thanks. I tried it and it is not too bad, though one has to be picky. For example, it seems to want to install Nvidia's 180.43 for my 8600M GT (certainly not going to work).

It messed up my Thinkpad big time.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread but I figured it'd be better than starting a new one about the same thing.
I stumbled across this software today by accident, installed it and then ran the update check, now I thought seeing as I grabbed all my drivers off the Dell website (and the fact my driver "bit" is no longer being updated) that they'd all be upto date but DriverMax is telling me that virtually all of them need updating...im hesitant to do it because Dell haven't put the drivers on there site (do they just abandon updates after a set period of time? The 1520 is "getting on a bit" now)
So Phil, did you end up using DriverMax? What were your thoughts?
Drivermax any good? (all in one driver update software)
