    Hey all,
I made the switch to Windows 7 once it came out. I haven't had much time for gaming since that point, but I tried to install and play Bioshock yesterday. My computer is a m8660tu and I know that I played this game on the system when I used Vista.
For some reason when I play the game now there is no sound. I assume that there is a problem with my audio drivers, so I went to the Sager website and downloaded the drivers for this machine. When I tried to install them there was an error that said I couldnt install these drivers.
Are there audio drivers for windows 7 out yet? Is that even the problem here?

    Any ideas?

Windows 7 is still in BETA, using it as your main OS is not recommended. There are bound to be bugs and incompatibilities with Windows 7 at this point.

What kind of audio card do you have on your machine? You may be able to get Vista or possibly BETA Windows 7 drivers off the manufacturers website that work.

I know Realtek has audio drivers for Windows 7, and they worked fine on my EEE. And my old Dell Inspiron 9100 has a Sigmatel audio card and it works fine in Windows 7 too.

Whenever I'd play music/sound, there would be a slight crackling/static noise.
Installing the most recent R.219 (03/18/2009) Vista drivers from Realtek for my Realtek HD 7.1 audio card, solved this issue (driver link).
Mute and headphones work, haven't tried a 7.1 set though.
As already mentioned, try your audiocard manufacturers website.
    Cheers.

    I had the same problem.
The drivers on that website are an older version and wont work with win7
The newest release R.219 will work.

Still working on my FP reader and my chipset drivers thou.

Okay thanks for the help guys, Im downloading the 2.19 drivers right now and I will install them once they are done. I have one further question though, although I am sure that I am posting in the wrong place. My Sager M8660tu has an expressCard slot. I know that one can buy sound cards to put in here, but has anyone discovered one that is superior to the others? I have a 5.1system and it sounds like normal speakers coming out of the midi jack in the laptop.... ew
