    So I have Windows Vista Ultimate, and it's easier to connect to wireless at my office using XP (they haven't figured out how to connect vista to the secure server) and I decided to dual boot Vista and XP

    I followed the instructions here:

    http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbooting_vista_and_xp

    Everything worked fine until I selected to boot into the xp operating system. It went to the loading screen (the one with the blue loading bar). it would load really quickly (which I thought was normal considering the specs of my computer are much higher than those needed for xp) but instead of going to the login screen I would get:

    "Stop: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
    The Session manager initialization system process
    terminated unexpectedly with a status of
    0xc000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000).
    The system has been shut down."

    I tried repairing using the boot CD, everything (but reinstalling the OS, I want to use that as the last possible option), but I still go to this error message. Vista still works perfectly.

    Any ideas?
    TIA

    Sounds like BCD screwed up booting XP. You might want to get BCDedit and try to fix the BCD files.

    @ Greg: Thanks! but that was the original program that I used

    @ nocturnal310: Well I d/led and installed the file and set up the os. But the same problem still happened. What am I exactly supposed to do? (sorry if it seems like I'm being spoonfed) [I mean, if possible, could I get step by step instructions on what to do?]

    Use EasyBCD 1.7.1, it's the easiest to use. Go into Vista, install the program. Then once your in the program you can add Windows XP to it. Once your finished you should be able to complete your install.

    I just use the Vista disc to repair. Whenever you want to install Vista and XP together and dualboot, you gotta go through this step.
